Classes

CLASSICAL BALLET

ROS teaches French, Cecchetti, Vagonava and Royal Academy of Dance Methods of ballet.   This class includes barre, center floor and across the floor movements.  

ROS offers 6 levels of ballet. Beginner, Advanced Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced Intermediate, Advanced, Pre-professional.

 

PROGRESSING BALLET TECHNIQUE

ROS offers PBT, which is a combination of Floor barre, Yoga, Corp, Strength, Pilates, Conditioning & Stretches created to enhance your Classical Ballet Training.   This class strengthens technique, increases muscle memory, improves flexibility and gives longevity in dance. This class is offered to ACADEMY PROGRAM dancers ages 7+.  

 Director, Kristine K Stohs, is trained, certified & licenced in the Progressing Ballet Technique method developed by Australian dancer & teacher Marie Walton-Mahon.

 

TAP

Tap is a fun class where you will learn the basics of tap.  Warm up, barre, center and across the floor exercises as well as combinations will be taught.   Tap techniques taught Al Gilbert, Jimmy Sutton, Paul Draper, Danny Hoctor and Gayle Tutterow.

 

JAZZ

ROS teaches traditional jazz dance using Gus Giordono, Matt Mattox, Jack Cole , Jerome Robbins and Bob Fosse curriculum.  Jazz classes consist of warm-up, barre, center and across the floor combinations.

 

CONDITIONING CLASS:

Conditioning class  uses Ballet, Jazz & Pilates elements to increase stamina, flexibility, mobility & muscle growth.  Building muscle around larger body joints such as knees, ankles & hips will help strengthen those joints to help you go about everyday activities with decreased pain or more ease of movement. Floor ballet will also be done in this class.

 

IRISH STEP DANCE (soft & hard shoe)

This is a specialized form of dance where you will learn traditional Irish steps in both hard and soft shoe.

This class is excellent to develop concentrations skills, balance, rhythm and great posture.  Come have fun and learn something new!  This classes uses ballet technique and dancers find it is a good cross training class for them. Irish Step Dance combinations are taught in ballet and tap classes to enhance their training.

 

POINTE 
Pointe Class is by permission & invitation only.  Pointe students need to be enrolled in 2 ballet classes per week to take Pointe Class.   This is advanced Ballet training requiring special shoes. The dancer has to have very strong ballet technique, turnout and strength to handle Pointe Training.  Call the studio for more details on shoe fitting.

 

PRE POINTE

Pre Pointe Class is by invitation & permission. Dancers that are almost ready for formal Pointe classes will join a beginning either a beginning level Pointe class or taking a Pre-Pointe class by themselves.  Dancers will be working on strengthening their arches, ankles, hamstrings, turnout and inner thigh muscles to get them strong enough for Pointe Class. Pre-Pointe students will be wearing ballet shoes in this class.

 

DANCE WITH ME  (Ages 2.5-3)

Pre-dance class where child dances with an older student, parent or grandparent.  Learn how to count music, dance with props, improve listening skills, work as a team and develop concentration.
